What do I get for my entry?
All entrants have in the past have taken home an exclusive Mayo Mud Run T-Shirt and this year will be no different, along with a goody bag with some surprises and everybody can avail of the complimentary refreshments of fresh fruit, tea, coffee, soup and rolls along with lots of delicious home baking. Unfortunately, entry fee is non-refundable.

Is there a team event?

No, but grow your team to 5 or more members to automatically receive 15% discount back once the fifth member joins. Evert team member after this will also get the same discounted refunded to their card.

Is there a minimum age?

16 years on day of run (with parental consent) 

Please download here and bring with you on the day of participation if entering the 16 - 18 age category.

Are there changing facilities ?

Yes. There will be designated changing areas which will be clearly signposted. Limited showers, unlimited water (first come, first serve for hot water) /toilets/hose down area as you will get dirty… Please bring a bin bag to put your running clothes and shoes into for your own comfort.

Is there parking?

Parking will be available in & around Moygownagh Community Centre. A traffic plan will be in place along with a complimentary shuttle bus. Parking stewards will be on hand to assist you. Bag/Key drop available, no responsibility will be taken for lost/stolen property.

Food available on day?

Complimentary refreshments will be served after finishing (soup/sandwiches/tea/buns, the works)

 

Any spectators on route or course?
No, only at  Moygownagh Community centre and along road. Field/forest/part of the course is strictly reserved for stewards, first aiders and accredited media.

What should you wear?

Ideally leggings, long sleeve t-shirt and running shoes or cross trainers.Shorts and t-shirt if you're brave enough ! Generally wear comfortable clothes and well worn-in footwear and a pair of gloves. Not your Sunday best anyway !!

What obstacles are there in the course?
Natural obstacles with just a little twist here and there.

Are there prizes for the race?

Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd men/women. An award ceremony will be held to present the prizes on the day and many spot prizes will be on offer.

How long will it take to complete course?

Approx. 1-1.5 hours if you can stop laughing/crying or both together. The organisers reserve the right to remove competitors from the event. Organisers reserve the right to amend the course to ensure all participants are back at the Centre within 2 hours. At this stage, you would sell your mother for hot grub and a hose down !!

 

Will there be medical support on the day?

Yes, First Aiders will be out on the course along with ambulance on site with First Aid Station.

Can anyone compete?

We will have people participating with all levels of fitness as it is designed to be a FUN experience, and participating is as rewarding as winning !! The Mayo Mud Run will be held on Saturday April 1st. As with any exercise you may need to consult your doctor as your safety is our priority. Mud Run is designed to be a fun experience first and foremost, but you will need to be able to run, walk and/or crawl for the duration of the course.

What happens if I have never done  Mayo Mud Run before?

It does not matter. In fact, because this event is so new, we expect this will be many peoples first time, so make sure you are a part of it !! There will of course be seasoned campaigners taking part also and everybody will lend a hand!

What happens if it rains on the day?

You will get wet!  But it all adds to the flavour. It will be more muddy !! This event loves rain!

Rules/Regulations

 Please obey stewards. They are there to look after you at all times.In the interests of safety and sports(wo)manship, please look out for each other and enjoy the event. Common sense and a good humour go a long way to ensuring everybody has an "enjoyable day"

Will photos from the race be posted online after the race?

Yup! There sure will. We post photos from each event up on Facebook. Keep an eye out for your muddy mug on there

Will there be a mass start and/or timing

 Organisers will allow the more enthusiastic towards the front of the group as we will have one start. There will be a large digital clock to display your time at the start/finish line keep your eyes peeled and give us a smile as we will be capturing your dirty grin as you finish. Photos will be posted on Facebook shortly after race.

What training should I do?

Leg work is probably most important, so you should do some running sessions at least once or twice a week.

 

Best part of the event?

This challenge is a unique event. Personal sense of achievement goes beyond the day itself… after making it through the famous, MAYO MUD RUN !!
